Durga Pooja or Navratras, also called Durgotsava, is a Hindu festival celebrated every year in the Indian
subcontinent that reveres the goddess Durga. Durga Pooja or Navratras are considered to be the pious
festival of joy, gaiety, beauty and happiness amongst Hindus. The festival of Durga Pooja or Navratras is
colored with devotional enthusiasm, epic legends, detailed ceremonies, over-generous or extravagant
Pandals and magnificent displays of the Divine Mother Goddess and her children. The festival provides one
and all with a chance to spread festive cheer and wish their loved ones peace as well as prosperity.
During the Durga Pooja or Navratras, it is considered that the Goddess Durga remains and roams the earth and
bestows her devotees with her blessings. The girl child usually in the age group of 0 to 10 years are being
worshipped and fed as Goddess Durga as a tradition. They are considered and believed as the Goddess Durga
herself, and devotees worship her and get her benevolence blessings. The girl child is believed to be a mortal
form of the mother Goddess Durga herself.
According to the Hindu Scriptures:-
A Girl of Two Years is believed to be a Kumari, and worshipping a Kumari helps in removing the misery and poverty.
A Three Year Girl is worshipped as Trimurti for Trimurti produces wealth.
A Four-Year-old Girl is worshipped as Kalyani for ensuring success in all walks of life and getting blessings of wealth and prosperity.
A Five Year Girl is known as Rohini and it is believed that her blessings remove all sorts of ailments from the devotee’s life and family.
A Six-Year Girl is known as Kaali and her benevolence blessings give success and enhance the knowledge, intelligence and fame.
A Seven-Year-old Girl is referred as Chandika and with her blessings, one can be wealthy, prosperous and live aluxurious life.
An Eight-Year-old Girl is denoted as Shambhavi and her blessings are taken to get success in battles and other legal matters.
A Nine-Year-old Girl child is supposed to be believed as goddess personified. Worshiping her removes all obstacles from life, enemies are smashed.
Ten-Year-Old is considered to be Subhadra. In case you worship the personified girl-child a devotee achieves all that he desires and life is abound by happiness.
By worshiping the girl child and following these rituals Goddess Durga is pleased and her blessings are sought
with all the happiness, fame, wealth and prosperity.
