As per the Hindu Methodology, there are various Deities and they have their Favorite Flowers. The Favorite Flowers of the Gods are meant for pleasing the deities, offering to different deities, praying to the deities with flowers, Offering Flowers to the deities. Some Flowers are known as Auspicious Flowers for Blessings/Benevolence of the Gods. At the same time there are some Prohibited Flowers too which can be categorized as follows:
Lord Ganesha or Ganapati:
The lord of the world Ganesha like Red Color Flowers, Red Genda (Marigold) flowers please him greatly.
Lord Vishnu likes white and fragrant colors like Mogra, Jasmine etc.
Lord Shiva, the Destroyer of the Universe, is the divine ascetic. He loves wildflowers like Dhatura and the poisonous flower Akondo or Apple of Sodom.
Tulsi is the auspicious leaf and Flower which is used in worshiping Lord Krishna.
Red Flowers are offered to the Lord Hanuman.
Goddess Mahakali or Adishakti:
She is said to be the essence of all female power in the Universe and is also known as Kali in her most destructive form. She is worshipped with blood-red hibiscus flowers.
Bhagwati Gauri or Goddess Lakshmi:
She is iconic for all that is auspicious and pure in your home. Goddess of wealth and prosperity accepts a wide range of flowers. Goddess Lakshmi is shown sitting on a lotus and thus that has to be her favorite flower. But in the absence of roses, any kind of red flowers, like red jasmine, please the goddess greatly.
The Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge is always clad in white to symbolize purity of mind but her favorite color is yellow. While offering prayers, offer yellow colored flowers like Champa (Indian Magnolia) and yellow Palash (Flame of the Forest).
